ARCHIMEDIA WORKSHOP PREMIERES MAKE NO LITTLE PLANS: DANIEL BURNHAM AND THE AMERICAN CITY
CHICAGO, IL, DECEMBER 9, 2009 --- The Archimedia Workshop announces the theatrical premiere of “Make No Little Plans: Daniel Burnham and the American City,” Sunday, December 13 at 3:00PM at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago. Three-time Oscar nominated actress Joan Allen narrates the film. Allen has received three Academy Award nominations; she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for "Nixon" (1995) and "The Crucible" (1996), and for Best Actress for "The Contender" (2000). A longtime ensemble member of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Allen was a Best Actress Tony-winner for the Steppenwolf's "Burn This." She was also Tony-nominated for Best Actress for The Heidi Chronicles.
A second screening of the film will be held Monday, December 14 at 6:00PM at the Siskel Center. WTTW 11 Chicago will broadcast the film December 17 at 8:00PM CST.

A panel discussion with the producers, Chicago Architecture Foundation leadership, architects and academics will take place immediately after the screening.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS
Judith Paine McBrien
Producer/Director: Judith Paine McBrien, Director/Producer of The Archimedia Workshop NFP, is the Director of the Daniel Burnham Film Project. For over 15 years she has written, directed and produced programs about architecture, history and urban design for public television broadcast as well as for organizations concerned with the arts and the environment including the Art Institute of Chicago, the American Institute of Architects, the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust and the Urban Land Institute. At Perspectives Media, she produced the award-winning 5-part series Skyline: Chicago for public television broadcast about Chicago’s history, development, and urban design. In 2000 she wrote and produced a Centerpiece Chicago Story, Daniel Burnham: The Power of Dreams, for Chicago public television station WTTW. McBrien holds a master's degree in architectural history from Columbia University and an MBA from the Yale School of Management. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Gene Siskel Film Center of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Mary Morrissette
Mary Morrissette is Associate Producer for the Daniel Burnham Film Project. For the past eight years, Mary has worked as a video producer in the Chicago area including projects for the Shedd Aquarium, the Museum of Science and Industry and corporate clients. Mary also has more than 20 years of experience in the corporate sector both as a senior manager and as a direct salesperson.
ABOUT THE ARCHIMEDIA WORKSHOP
The Archimedia Workshop was formed in June 2003 as a 501(c)(3) not for profit media production company in order to produce programming about architecture, history and urban design. Archimedia Workshop establishes and maintains a media production company; researches, writes, plans, produces, edits and distributes educational films about architecture, history, urban design and other works in any and all mediums.
ABOUT KARTEMQUIN FILMS
An internationally-recognized not-for-profit media arts organization, Kartemquin Films is a home for independent filmmakers developing documentary as a vehicle to deepen our understanding of society through everyday human drama. In 2009, Kartemquin received a 2008 Peabody Award for Terra Incognita: Mapping Stem Cell Research; a Silver Hugo Television Award for At the Death House Door; and an Emmy Award nomination for In the Family. The company currently has seven films in progress including A Good Man, a portrait of Tony Award winning choreographer Bill T.
